The VB Series continues it’s tour of Australia, moving from Melbourne to the nations capital here in Canberra, for the 4th match of five, in front of a healthy crowd at Manuka Oval.

Hello everyone. Welcome to our coverage of the 4th match of the VB Series. It’s a dead-rubber, after Australia finished the Job in Melbourne on Sunday night, successfully chasing 296 to take a 3-0 lead.

They’ve chased 310, 309 and 296 thus far. Their decision to bowl after winning the toss in Melbourne was bizarre, but justified at around 10pm, when James Faulkner hit the winning run.

For India, pride is on the line here – they’d like to salvage some, and win at least one of the remaining matches.

The news from here, is that Australia have won the toss, and for the first time in this series, they’re batting first.

David Warner is back in the side, as is Nathan Lyon, and they replace Shaun Marsh and Scott Boland respectively.
Usman Khawaja meanwhile, has been released to go back to the Sydney Thunder for this weeks Big Bash Semi-Finals. The Thunder will take on the Adelaide Strikers tomorrow night in Adelaide!

For India, Barinder Sran is out, and replacing him is Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Let’s have a look at those two teams now.

2015-16 VB Series | Game 4

So, the news from Canberra, is that Steven Smith has won the toss, Australia will bat first, on a very warm day in Canberra, where a brilliant pitch awaits those who get to bat on it. Back with play soon.

Welcome to everybody who joins us now on Zak Sports, for the fourth match in this VB Series between Australia and India.

Already 1827 runs scored in this series in three matches, and I dare say another 600+ on the cards here in Canberra.

Aaron Finch and David Warner are ready to get going – they’re out there before the India fielders, and the umpires are now there too.

The new white ball is in the hands of Umesh Yadav, and waiting for us in the Commentary Box are Mark Taylor, Brett Lee and James Brayshaw!

2:54pm | Australia 0/52 (8) | David Warner 30* (26) | Aaron Finch 21* (22)
A solid start for Australia… The Indians have reigned it back in the last three overs, conceding just 12, but Warner and Finch are making the most of some excellent batting conditions here in Canberra, as Michael Slater, Mark Nicholas and Ian Healy move into the commentary position!

3:18pm | Australia 0/84 (13.5) | David Warner 52* (46) | Aaron Finch 31* (37)

SIX!!! BIG HIT, AND FIFTY FOR DAVID WARNER!!!
Fine start from the man, in his return to the side, after a few days off to welcome his newborn baby girl into the world, and he’s come back keen to make big runs against the second best team in the world.

The Aussies are going along very nicely… 84 runs in the first 14 overs, despite Aaron Finch’s scoring rate slowly in the last few overs!

3:23pm | Just 3 runs from that 15th over. Australia 0/87, as Brett Lee, James Brayshaw and Mark Taylor take up commentary!

3:53pm | Australia 0/133 (22) | David Warner 80* (73) | Aaron Finch 48* (59)

The Australian openers are making it look easy out there in the centre. David Warner has raced to 80, and in doing so, has played some beautiful shots all around the ground… and Aaron Finch is on the precipice of 50.

At Drinks incidentally, we had an Umpire change, which is rare. Richard Kettleborough had to leave the ground injured, after being hit by a cricket ball that left Aaron Finch’s bat, smashed into the Stumps, and deflected into his shin… Paul Wilson has replaced him!

22 overs gone, as Michael Slater, Mark Nicholas and Ian Healy take up commentary!

3:54pm | FIFTY for Aaron Finch now… great play… 61 balls for this one, and the platform is set for him and Warner to launch!

4:21pm | Australia 1/187 (29.3) | Mitchell Marsh 0* (0) | Aaron Finch 88* (85)
BOWLED HIM!!! DAVID WARNER MUST GO! ISHANT SHARMA GETS THE BREAKTHROUGH, AND THE OPENER FALLS SHORT OF A CENTURY.

SADLY, IT’S AN INSIDE EDGE THAT BRINGS HIM UNDONE, BUT IT’S STILL HIS HIGHEST SCORE AGAINST THE INDIANS, AND A NICE RETURN TO THE SIDE! 1/187!

Warner | b I. Sharma | 93 (92) | FOW 1/187 (29.3)

Mitchell Marsh has been promoted to number 3. He joins Finch who has raced to 85, as we rejoin Michael Slater, Ian Healy and Mark Nicholas!

4:25pm | 30 overs gone… 20 to go. Mitchell Marsh is off the mark, and Aaron Finch is closing in on another hundred at Manuka Oval, as Brett Lee and Mark Taylor join Michael Slater!

4:37pm | Australia 1/201 (33.3) | Mitchell Marsh 2* (12) | Aaron Finch 100* (97)
A SINGLE, AND THAT’LL DO IT! AARON FINCH LOVES MANUKA OVAL… A SECOND CENTURY AT THIS GROUND, AND A LOT OF TIME LEFT TO GO ON WITH IT!

100 OFF 97 BALLS… HIS SEVENTH IN ONE DAY INTERNATIONAL CRICKET, AND HIS FIRST IN THIS SERIES.

1/201 in the 34th over, as we rejoin Mark Taylor, Brett Lee and Michael Slater!

4:24pm | Australia 2/221 (37.3) | Mitchell Marsh 16* (28) | Steven Smith 0* (0)

CAUGHT!!! KOHLI AND SHARMA WENT WITH ONE ANOTHER, AND WERE UNSURE AS TO WHO WAS GOING TO CATCH IT, AND EVENTUALLY SHARMA DID!
AARON FINCH MUST GO, BUT NOT BEFORE HE’S PUT AUSTRALIA IN A COMMANDING POSITION HERE… 107 AT A RUN A BALL! IT’S 2/221!

Finch | c I. Sharma, b Yadav | 107 (107) | 2/221 (37.3)

A Mitchell Marsh single puts Steven Smith on strike. The captain comes in at number 4… he was unable to get off the mark from his first two balls, and at the end of the 38th over, it’s 2/222, as Mark Nicholas, the great V.V.S Laxman and Ian Healy take up commentary!

5:23pm | Australia 2/286 (44) | Mitchell Marsh 32* (40) | Steven Smith 45* (25)
Steven Smith has raced to 45 in no time… Mitchell Marsh has started to kick into gear nicely… 2/286, and a big score on the cards here, as Michael Slater, Mark Taylor and James Brayshaw take over Commentary for the run home.

5:25pm | Australia 4/288 | Steven Smith 46* (26) | Glenn Maxwell 0* (0)
GONE!!! MITCHELL MARSH NEVER REALLY GOT GOING TODAY, AND WHEN HE DID TRY TO GET GOING, INSTEAD OF CLEARING THE BOUNDARY, THE BALL’S JUST GONE STRAIGHT UP, AND WHEN IT CAME DOWN, VIRAT KOHLI WAS RIGHT UNDER IT, TO TAKE THE CATCH, AND IT’S THE THIRD WICKET DOWN FOR 288!Marsh | c Kohli, b Yadav | 33 (42) | FOW 3/288 (44.3)Glenn Maxwell joins Steven Smith in the centre, with permission to go after quick runs!5:27pm | FIFTY for Steven Smith… off just 27 balls… game changing innings this one, and he brings up fifty with an unbelievable boundary!5:32pm | Australia 4/298 (45.4) | George Bailey 0* (0) | Glenn Maxwell 4* (4)
GONE!!! ANOTHER CATCH IN THE OUTFIELD, AS AUSTRALIA GO AFTER QUICK RUNS AT THE END OF THE INNINGS, AND THAT WENT MILES UP BEFORE IT EVENTUALLY CAME DOWN… JUST A FEW METRES INSIDE THE BOUNDARY, AND INTO THE HANDS OF GURKEERAT SINGH!

STEVEN SMITH GOES, BUT NOT BEFORE REEKING SOME HAVOC! 4/298!
Smith | c Gurkeerat Singh, b I. Sharma | 51 (29) | FOW 4/298 (45.4)

George Bailey joins Maxwell, as the big hitters keep coming for Australia. 26 balls to go, and this is looking like a big chase for the Indians!

5:43pm | Australia 5/319 (48) | James Faulkner 0* (0) | Glenn Maxwell 14* (11)

GONE!!! STRAIGHT DOWN THE THROAT OF ROHIT SHARMA, AND GEORGE BAILEY IS ON HIS WAY!
COUPLE OF WICKET COMING QUICKLY FOR INDIA. 5/319

Bailey | c R. Sharma, b I. Sharma | 10 (7) | FOW 5/319 (48)

5:45pm | Australia 6/319 (48.1) | Matthew Wade 0* (0) | Glenn Maxwell 14* (11)

BOWLED HIM… JAMES FAULKNER’S GONE FIRST BALL!
GREAT BOWLING FROM YADAV… A SLOWER BALL BRINGS THE FINISHER UNDONE, AND IT’S TWO WICKETS IN TWO BALLS FOR INDIA! 6/319!

Faulkner | b Yadav | 0 (1) | 6/319 (48.1)

5:48pm | Australia 7/321 (48.3) | Matthew Wade 0* (0) | Glenn Maxwell 14* (11)
GONE!!! RUN OUT… AGAIN, TRYING TO GET QUICK RUNS, AND MATTY WADE SACRIFICES HIMSELF, BUT THAT WAS ALWAYS ON THE CARDS WHEN THEY TOOK OFF FOR A RUN AS THE BALL WENT STRAIGHT TO ROHIT SHARMA! 7/321!

Wade | run out | 0 (2) | FOW 7/321 (48.3)

OUT!!! A SCREAMER OF A CATCH FROM PANDEY, THE SUBSTITUTE FIELDER, AND THAT ENDS THE CARNAGE FROM GLENN MAXWELL.

18 FROM THE FINAL OVER, WITH THREE 4’s AND A SIX, AND INDIA WILL BE CHASING THE BIGGEST SCORE OF THE TOURNAMENT THUS FAR!

Maxwell | c Pandey (sub), b I. Sharma | 41 (20) | FOW 8/348 (50)

348 – not only the biggest first innings score of the Tournament, but Australia’s biggest at Manuka Oval. Their previous best was 329, which they posted twice here – once in 2013 against the West Indies, and once in November of 2014 against South Africa.

If India can pull it off, it’ll be the most successful run chase on Australian soil, and they wouldn’t mind making some history on their way to securing their first win of the series.

A fascinating night ahead… let’s hope the rain stays away, and we’ll have the run chase for you in half an hour!

Good evening, everybody! Welcome to Canberra for our continuing coverage of the fourth match in the VB series, between Australia and India from Manuka Oval.

For the first time in this series, Australia batted first, and they didn’t disappoint. They piled on 348 runs for the loss of 8 wickets… it’s the biggest score of the series, and it’ll be hard work for the Indians if they’re to chase it down!

Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan will open the batting, and in a move many would relate to BBL action, not so much the 50-over game, Nathan Lyon will open the bowling.

We’ve had a shower in the tea break, but that has passed, and we’re ready to go, as are Ian Healy, James Brayshaw and Mark Taylor!

7:03pm | India 1/65 (8) | Shikhar Dhawan 24* (23) | Virat Kohli 0* (0)
India need 284 more runs to win from 42 overs.

GOT HIM!!! THERE’S THE BREAKTHROUGH… AND THEY NEEDED IT TOO… ROHIT SHARMA’S GONE… THE DANGER MAN WAS SMASHING THE AUSTRALIAN BOWLERS TO ALL CORNERS, BEFORE HE WAS TEASED WITH ONE OUTSIDE LEG STUMP, AND HE GLOVED IT STRAIGHT INTO THE HANDS OF MATTHEW WADE!

GONE… DISAPPOINTED TO BE SO, BUT HE’S GOT INDIA OFF TO A GOOD START, WHICH IT NEEDED TO BE, IN THIS MASSIVE RUN CHASE… IT’S 1/65!

R. Sharma | c Wade, b Richardson | 41 (25) | FOW 1/65 (8)

Virat Kohli joins Shikhar Dhawan, who’s made a good start… India going along nicely, but there’s a long way to go!

7:40pm | India 1/133 (17) | Shikhar Dhawan 50* (49) | Virat Kohli 40* (28)

India need 216 more runs to win from 33 overs.

FOUR!!! BRILLIANT SHOT, AND FIFTY FOR SHIKHAR DHAWAN!!!

They’re on-track India… 133 off the first 17 overs. 7.82 is the current run-rate – they started off needing 6.98, so all signs lead to a very entertaining night of Cricket here in the nations capital, as V.V.S Laxman, Mark Taylor and Ian Healy take over commentary!

7:50pm | India 1/148 (18.4) | Shikhar Dhawan 55* (53) | Virat Kohli 50* (34)

India need 201 more runs to win from 31.2 overs.
FIFTY FOR VIRAT KOHLI… ANOTHER ONE IN THIS SERIES, AND HE IS DETERMINED TO SET MANUKA ALIGHT TONIGHT… 34 BALLS FOR A FINE FIFTY FROM THE INDIAN NUMBER THREE.8:35pm | India 1/227 (30) | Shikhar Dhawan 92* (88) | Virat Kohli 90* (67)
India need 122 more runs to win from 120 balls.

What a run fest this is turning into at the Manuka Oval. India are in complete control here… this run chase is pure class – they’re making light work of it, and showing once more, why chasing in this series has been the way to go!

Both Dhawan and Kohli are closing in on centuries, as Ian Healy, Mark Taylor and James Brayshaw take up commentary!

8:38pm | India 1/237 (30.4) | Shikhar Dhawan 102* (92) | Virat Kohli 90* (67)
India need 112 more runs to win from 116 balls.

THROUGH THE GAP… THAT’S FOUR, AND A HUNDRED TO SAVOUR FOR SHIKHAR DHAWAN!
WHAT AN INNINGS FROM THE INDIAN OPENER… WORKING WITH VIRAT KOHLI TO SETUP AN ALMOST CERTAIN, BUT LONG OVERDUE VICTORY FOR INDIA. 1/237!

9pm | India 1/261 (35.1) |
Shikhar Dhawan 115* (102) | Virat Kohli 101* (84)
India need 88 more runs to win from 89 balls.

GOT IT!!! VIRAT KOHLI GOES TO A HUNDRED… HE’S SECOND IN SUCCESSION, AND WENT OVER THE IN-FIELD TO DO IT… ALL FIELDERS WERE INSIDE THE CIRCLE PRETTY WELL, TO TRY AND STOP THE SINGLE, BUT THEY HAD NO ANSWER TO THAT SHOT!

India are in complete control, much to the delight of their loyal fans who have packed Manuka Oval on this lovely Wednesday evening.

9:10pm | India 2/277 (37.3) | MS Dhoni 0* (0) | Virat Kohli 105* (88)

India need 72 more runs to win from 75 balls.

GOT HIM!!! SILLY SHOT GIVEN THE CIRCUMSTANCES… DHAWAN MUST GO – THE PARTNERSHIP IS BROKEN, AND FINALLY, SOME JOY FOR AUSTRALIA.

Dhawan | c Bailey, b Hastings | 126 (113) | FOW 2/277 (37.3)

Magnificent innings from Dhawan… certainly the best he’s looked all series.

IN THE AIR, AND GONE!!! IT WENT STRAIGHT UP… A POOR MIS-TIMED SWEEP SHOT OF SORTS, AND SINGH MANN IS ON HIS WAY!

Mann | c S. Marsh, b Lyon | 5 (6) | FOW 5/286 (40.1)

Great news for India – Ajinkya Rahane is the new man in… he’s been off to Hospital for some repair work and stitches, but he’s back at Manuka, and in the centre to try and help get his team home! That’s a big boost for India, that he’s fit enough to play on… we’re on the edge of our seat here in Canberra!

India require 55 runs from 49 balls | Australia need 4 wickets

GONE!!! NO SOONER DOES RAHANE GET TO THE CENTRE, THAN HE’S TURNING AROUND AND HEADING BACK TO THE PAVILION ONCE MORE… UNBELIEVABLE SCENES HERE IN CANBERRA… INDIA LOOK LIKE THEY’RE LOSING WHAT WAS THE UN-LOSABLE!

10:15pm | 2015-16 VB Series – Game 3
Australia v India

LIVE from Manuka Oval, Canberra
Australia won the toss – elected to Bat first.
Australia 8/348 (50) | India 323 (49.2)
Australia wins by 25 runs | Lead the Series 4-0
Man of the Match: Kane Richardson
‪#‎AUSvIND‬ | ‪#‎ZakSportsAU‬ | ‪#‎Cricket‬

OUT!!! THAT’S IT!!! VICTORY FROM NOWHERE FOR AUSTRALIA!!! INDIA LOST 9/46… A CATASTROPHIC COLLAPSE… THEY CAPITULATED AFTER THE DISMISSALS OF SHIKHAR DHAWAN AND VIRAT KOHLI, AND MITCHELL MARSH WRAPS IT UP WITH THE DISMISSAL OF THE BUNNY IN THIS INDIAN SIDE, ISHANT SHARMA!

AUSTRALIA WIN BY 25 RUNS… IT’S 4-NIL WITH ONE TO PLAY, IN A RUN CHASE THAT WAS SHADES OF THE FIRST TEST IN ADELAIDE IN 2014… WHERE INDIA DOMINATED FOR THE FIRST 240 RUNS OF A 360-RUN CHASE, BEFORE AUSTRALIA TOOK 8 WICKETS FOR VERY LITTLE, TO WIN THE CONTEST – AGAIN, WHEN THEY HAD NO RIGHT TO!!

Sharma | c Wade, b M. Marsh | 0 (3) | FOW 10/323 (49.2)

That’s an extraordinary game of Cricket… over 670 runs scored here – taking the series total to over 2500, and it’s the first time the side batting first has won, although by rights they shouldn’t have.

Australia posted their highest ever score at Manuka Oval today, and it’s the third highest ever behind 411 (South Africa) and 372 (West Indies), which were both posted during the recent Cricket World Cup.

Kane Richardson, in a game highlighted by magnificent batting, has been voted Man of the Match for his match winning figures of 5/68 in 10 overs, including 4/16 in his last spell.

India will view that as a massive missed opportunity, and rightly so… Kohli or Dhawan needed to be there at the end if they were to win… and at 1/277, you wouldn’t have backed against them, but then those two men fell, and the game was Australia’s for the taking, and take it they did, and by 25 runs too.
