It’s one of those games you simply don’t want to miss… the Indian support has come from everywhere, to the Sydney Cricket Ground, to support their team, in their quest for consecutive World Cup Final appearances.
To get there, they have to defeat the might of the home side, Australia.
Led by Michael Clarke, the Aussies had a comfortable win over Pakistan in the quarter-final, and are looking to play in their first World Cup Final since 2007…
It’s a SELL OUT here in Sydney, on a beautiful sunny day… 27 degrees, and no chance of rain, on an afternoon that promises to provide us with a wonderful game of Cricket indeed.

Hello everyone, I’m Zak Caban. Welcome to the Sydney Cricket Ground… welcome to our coverage of the second semi-final, and let’s be honest straight off the top, this will need to be an absolute corker if it’s to be better than what we saw in New Zealand on Tuesday Night.

New Zealand, seventh time luck in the semi-final, beating South Africa with a ball to spare, to progress to their first World Cup Final.

But, now… the attention turns to Sydney… everyone is talking about Cricket at the moment, thanks not only to the semi-final on Tuesday, but also to the success of this Aussie team, who are on the precipice of the a seventh appearance in the World Cup Final, and the prospect of a Trans-Tasman clash on the last Sunday in March is a mouth-watering prospect based on what we saw in their group match at Eden Park on February 28!

To get there, they must get past India, the defending champions… and that won’t be an easy task.
If you haven’t seen much of the World Cup, and  you’re thinking this will be easy for the Australians, based on what you saw in the Tri-Series earlier this summer, you’re very much mistaken… this Indian team is undefeated in the World Cup so far, and looking threatening, there’s no doubt about that!

Toss coming up at 2pm, Play at 2:30pm, and we’ll have the two teams for you very soon as well… we’re at the Sydney Cricket Ground today… the mecca, the MCG awaits for the winner.

2pm | Hello again from the Sydney Cricket Ground… the crowd is building… the atmosphere, and it’s about to be more so, as Michael Clarke and M.S Dhoni are out in the centre, ready for the toss.

Heads was the call, but it’s come down tails… MICHAEL CLARKE, and AUSTRALIA have won the toss, and they’ve elected to BAT first!

Mark Waugh seems to think that a score around 350 is expected for the team batting first, so get ready for fireworks from Finch, Warner, Maxwell, Faulkner, Smith, Haddin and co…

Here’s a look at the two teams for you.

2nd SF Teams

This will be the FIFTH time Australia have batted first in this World Cup… They batted first against New Zealand, England, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka… they chased against Scotland and Pakistan.
Their lowest score batting first was against New Zealand… they were rolled for 151, but in the other matches, all played on Australian soil, they’ve scored between 342 and 417… which is worrying for India, because on the occasions where they’ve chased totals, the highest run chase was 288, to beat Zimbabwe, and their other chases fall well short of that mark:
UAE (103)
West Indies (183)
Ireland (260)

They batted first against South Africa and Pakistan, posting 307 and 300 on those occasions… So, Australia are good at posting targets, and India have proven they can chase, but the problem for them is, they haven’t had to chase in excess of 300 yet… that will probably change today, and they’ll be facing the might of Starc, Johnson and Hazlewood, which won’t make it any easier…

We are LIVE at the Sydney Cricket Ground… Australia have won the toss… they’re batting first, and we’re back with live play in just a moment!

2:30pm | Australia won the toss, elected to bat first.
Australia 0/0 (0)
David Warner 0* (0) | Aaron Finch 0* (0)

Hello to everyone who’s joining us for the first time today, from the Sydney Cricket Ground, where the stage is set for the second semi-final… Australia against India. The winner will take on New Zealand at the MCG on Sunday.

We’ve got a beautiful sunny day here in Sydney… a capacity crowd in attendance… Will this live up to the expectations?

We’re predicting a very tight, tense and captivating cricket match, like so many of them have been in this tournament.

David Warner is at the non-strikers end… Aaron Finch will face the first ball from Mohammed Shami, and waiting for us in the Commentary Box are Sourav Ganguly, Shane Warne and Mark Nicholas!

2:45pm | Australia 1/15 (3.1) | Steven Smith 0* (0) | Aaron Finch 1* (12)

GONE… IT’S WARNER… A BEAUTIFUL SHORT BALL FROM YADAV, AND IT’S CAUGHT WARNER OUT, AND HE’S HIT IT OFF THE TOP OF THE BAT, STRAIGHT INTO THE WAITING HANDS OF VIRAT KOHLI! 1/15!

Warner | c Kohli, b Yadav | 12 (7) | FOW 1/15 (3.1)

3:05pm | Australia 1/38 (8) | Steven Smith 13* (17) | Aaron Finch 10* (24)

We’ve got a very good contest on our hands here at the Sydney Cricket Ground… Australia are 1/38 after 8 over… this is after they won the toss and chose to bat first.

David Warner fell cheaply, and the run-rate has dropped since his departure.

Change in commentary, here are Graeme Smith, Mark Waugh and Harsha Bhogle!

3:32pm | Australia 1/77 (14) | Steven Smith 40* (36) | Aaron Finch 21* (41)
We’ve got a compelling contest on our hand here at the SCG… Steven Smith has had the better of the batting conditions so far… the run-rate has picked up… it’ll be interesting to see how these middle overs play out, as Rahul Dravid, Mark Taylor and Damien Fleming take over!

3:40pm | DRINKS | Australia 1/89 (16) | Steven Smith 45* (43) | Aaron Finch 28* (46)

3:53pm | Australia 1/100 (19) | Steven Smith 50* (53) | Aaron Finch 33* (52)

FIFTY FOR STEVEN SMITH… THIS DREAM RUN THROUGH THE 2014/15 SUMMER CONTINUES!
FIFTY IN THE SEMI-FINAL… AND LOOKING COMFORTABLE AGAINST THE SPINNERS, WHO ARE NOW WORKING IN TANDOM, FROM BOTH THE RANDWICK AND PADDINGTON ENDS… IT’S 1/100!

4pm | Australia 1/107 (21) | Steven Smith 53* (56) | Aaron Finch 36* (63)
1/107 at the Sydney Cricket Ground… Finch going slowly, but the Aussies are still motoring along at over five an over, and Steven Smith is cruising along at the other end.

Change in commentary, here come Nasser Hussain, Brett Lee and Mark Nicholas!

4:18pm | Australia 1/137 (26.3) | Steven Smith 68* (70) | Aaron Finch 50* (82)

FIFTY FOR AARON FINCH… A WELL CONSTRUCTED INNINGS… NOT THE EXPLOSIVE TYPE OF PERFORMANCE WE EXPECT FROM HIM, BUT CERTAINLY A VITAL ONE… HE’S THERE IN THE 27TH OVER, WITH SO MUCH WORK STILL TO BE DONE… AUSTRALIA ARE IN A GOOD POSITION.

IT’S 1/137!

4:21pm | Australia 1/147 (28) | Steven Smith 74* (73) | Aaron Finch 54* (88)
Run-rate is presently 5.25 an over… it’s a very good position that the Australians find themselves in with 22 overs to spare, and also 9 wickets in the shed, as Graeme Smith, Brian Lara and Harsha Bhogle take over commentary!

4:40pm | Australia 1/181 (33) | Steven Smith 100* (89) | Aaron Finch 62* (102)

SHOT… THAT’S FOUR… THE DREAM SUMMER ROLLS ON FOR STEVEN SMITH… HE HAS DEMORALISED INDIA IN BOTH TEST AND ODI CRICKET THIS SUMMER, AND THAT CONTINUES WITH A WORLD CUP SEMI-FINAL CENTURY TO SAVOUR!

1/181 WITH 17 OVERS TO GO… THIS IS GOING TO BE A MASSIVE TOTAL FOR THE AUSSIES AT THE SYDNEY CRICKET GROUND!

5:08pm | Australia 3/232 (37.3) | Shane Watson 0* (0) | Aaron Finch 80* (111)
GONE… HE’S PICKED OUT THE FIELDER PERFECTLY… RAHANE DIDN’T HAVE TO MOVE… MAXWELL HIT IT STRAIGHT DOWN HIS THROAT… 3/232, AS HE DEPARTS FOR JUST 23, BUT HE GOT IT IN QUICK TIME!

Maxwell | c Rahane, b Ashwin | 23 (14) | FOW 3/232 (37.3)

Shane Watson is the new man in… coming in ahead of Michael Clarke, as we join Sourav Ganguly, Shane Warne and Mark Taylor in the commentary box!

5:30pm | Australia 5/248 (42.1) | Shane Watson 4* (11) | Michael Clarke 0* (0)
GONE… GOOD CATCH, AND NEEDED WICKET FOR INDIA… IT’S MICHAEL CLARKE WHO’S GONE… TRYING TO GET QUICK RUNS, AND HE HIT IT STRAIGHT AT ROHIT SHARMA.

HE WAS THE MORE SETTLED OF THE TWO BATSMEN… WATSON SITTING ON 4 OFF 11… JUST STRUGGLING TO GET GOING… IT’S 5/248!

Clarke | c Rohit Sharma, b Mohit Sharma | 10 (12) | FOW 5/248 (42.1)

Australia have lost 4/51… the momentum is shifting in the favour of the defending champions.
It’s 5/248, as Rahul Dravid, Brett Lee and Nasser Hussain move into the Commentary Box!

5:52pm | Australia 6/284 (46.3) | Brad Haddin 0* (0) | Shane Watson 18* (25)

GOT HIM!!! INDIA ARE FINISHING STRONG… IT’S FAULKNER THAT’S GONE… THEY’VE REMOVED BOTH THE SLOGGERS, FAULKNER AND MAXWELL CHEAPLY, AND THEY’LL BE DELIGHTED WITH THAT… CLEAN BOWLED. IT’S 6/284!

Faulkner | b Yadav | 21 (12) | FOW 6/284 (46.3)

Brad Haddin is the new man in… 21 balls left… Australia need to ramp things up!

6pm | Australia 7/298 (47.5) | Brad Haddin 4* (3) | Mitchell Johnson 0* (0)
GONE!!! WATSON’S OUT… DIDN’T GET HOLD OF IT, AND HE’S HELD OUT TO AJINKYA RAHANE AT DEEP SQUARE LEG… THE WICKET IS MOHIT SHARMA’S… AUSTRALIA ARE ON THE PRECIPICE OF 300, BUT INDIA ARE FINISHING VERY WELL. IT’S 7/298!

Watson | c Rahane, b Mohit Sharma | 28 (30) | FOW 7/298 (47.5)

6:15pm | Australia 7/328 (50) | Brad Haddin 7* (7) | Mitchell Johnson 27* (9)
India require 329 runs to win.

30 runs off 13 balls to finish this innings for Australia… a magnificent finish, and a great total of 7/328.

Mitchell Johnson stole the show at the end of the innings, smashing 27 off just 9 balls!

Australia needed more than 300… given the slump from the middle-order, they’ll be delighted with 328.

Steven Smith was the standout, again… 105 for him, and now the job is in the hands of Starc, Johnson, Hazlewood, Watson, Faulkner and Maxwell, who’ll be out to bowl at India in around half an hour from now.

Of the completed 50 over performances from Australia in this world cup, this is their lowest total when batting first, but it’s also the first time they’ve ever posted 300+ in a World Cup Semi-Final, and that could be the key as we await this run chase this evening!

Incidentally, India haven’t had to chase 300 or more in this tournament… their biggest chase was 288 against Zimbabwe 12 days ago… so, let’s see how they handle this target, with a superior bowling line-up, to that of Zimbabwe, to challenge them!

It’s 329 the target… we’ll see you for the run chase very shortly. Bye for now!

Good evening everybody, and welcome to the Sydney Cricket Ground, where the second semi-final, Australia versus India, is about to enter the second-half… India need 329 to progress to the final of the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup… but, they haven’t beaten Australia ALL SUMMER… can they break the hoodoo?

We’ll soon find out… Mitchell Starc has the new ball in hand. He’s bowling to Rohit Sharma… and waiting for us in the Commentary Box are Graeme Smith, Sourav Ganguly and Mark Taylor!

7:15pm | Australia 7/328 (50) | India 0/30 (7) | Rohit Sharma 17* (25) | Shikhar Dhawan 10* (17)
India require 299 runs to win.

Good start for India at the SCG… they haven’t lost a wicket, and even though the required run-rate is on the rise, they’ll make that up later if they keep wickets in the shed, so Dhawan and Sharma have started nicely, and done what they need to do… let’s see if they can go on with it, as Nasser Hussain, Shane Warne and Harsha Bhogle take over commentary!

7:43pm | Australia 7/328 (50) | India 1/76 (12.5) | Rohit Sharma 24* (38) | Virat Kohli 0* (0)
India require 253 runs to win | Australia need 9 wickets!

GOT HIM… HE’S FALLEN INTO THE TRAP… SMASHING ONE OVER THE COVERS, BUT MAXWELL’S ON THE BOUNDARY, AND TAKES THE SIMPLEST OF CATCHES!

BRILLIANT WICKET FOR HAZLEWOOD… AUSTRALIA HAVE THEIR FIRST, AND IT’S THE ONE THEY WANTED. SHIKHAR DHAWAN IS GONE… IT’S 1/76!

Dhawan | c Maxwell, b Hazlewood | 45 (41) | FOW 1/76 (12.5)

7:55pm | Australia 7/328 (50) | India 2/78 (15.3) – DRINKS
Rohit Sharma 24* (38) | Ajinkya Rahane 0* (0)
India require 251 runs to win | Australia need 8 wickets!
‪#‎Cricket‬ | ‪#‎CWC15‬ | ‪#‎AUSvIND‬ | ‪#‎ZakSportsAU‬

GOT HIM… IT’S KOHLI… JOHNSON’S GOT HIM MAN… BRILLIANT CAPTAINCY FROM MICHAEL CLARKE, WHO GOT JOHNSON ON JUST TO HAVE A STAB AT KOHLI, AND IT’S DOES THE TRICK… JOHNSON GETS HIS FIRST, AND IT’S 2/78 AT DRINKS!

Kohli | c Haddin, b Johnson 1 (13) | FOW 2/78 (15.3)

That’s a huge moment in this contest… Brett Lee, Rahul Dravid and Damien Fleming will talk you through the next period of the semi-final!

8:08pm | Australia 7/328 (50) | India 3/91 (18) | Suresh Raina 0* (0) | Ajinkya Rahane 4* (8)
India require 238 runs to win | Australia need 7 wickets!

BOWLED HIM!!! MITCHELL JOHNSON… A WONDERFUL DELIVERY… WHAT A WAY TO RESPOND AFTER BEING HIT OVER THE FENCE… CRASHES ONE INTO THE STUMPS… SHARMA, CLEAN BOWLED AND ON HIS WAY! IT’S 3/91!

Sharma | b Johnson | 34 (48) | FOW 3/91 (18)

Suresh Raina is the new man in, and they these two really need to stick together for their chances of winning to remain alive… it’s been a mini-collapse since Dhawan departed, and now the Aussies can sniff a re-match with New Zealand… 3/91… job far from done, but a great start to it, as we rejoin Rahul Dravid, Brett Lee and Damien Fleming!

8:28pm | Australia 7/328 (50) | India 4/108 (23) | M.S Dhoni 0* (0) | Ajinkya Rahane 12* (26)
India require 221 runs to win | Australia need 6 wickets!

GOT HIM… THE SHORT BALL DOES THE TRICK FOR JAMES FAULKNER… THICK EDGE FOR SURESH RAINA, AND BRAD HADDIN TAKES AN ABSOLUTE CRACKER OF A CATCH!

AUSTRALIA IN THE BOX SEAT RIGHT NOW… INDIA STILL NEEDING 221 OFF THE LAST 25, AND ONLY A FEW HANDY BATSMEN AT THEIR DISPOSAL… IT’S 4/108!

Raina | c Haddin, b Faulkner | 7 (11) | FOW 4/108 (23)

So, the captain… M.S Dhoni is out there, and he knows he needs to be there at the end if his side are any chance of winning, as Graeme Smith, Mark Nicholas and Mark Waugh take over commentary!

9:08pm | Australia 7/328 (50) | India 4/157 (33) – DRINKS
M.S Dhoni 26* (29) | Ajinkya Rahane 33* (57)
India require 172 runs from 102 balls.

It’s drinks at the Sydney Cricket Ground… these two have put on 49 for the fifth wicket, but the asking rate is now more than 10 an over if they’re to pull this run chase off, and go through to Sunday’s final… Rahane needs to get a wriggle on… they’ve got two overs before the powerplay, and from that point on, Australia are restricted with what they can do with their field, which gives India a chance to score some more runs… but these two are the pair that need to do it!

So, play smart, but score quickly… not an easy task… if you ask me, this is Australia’s to lose… 4/157, as Brian Lara, Sourav Ganguly and Shane Warne take over Commentary!

9:28pm | Australia 7/328 (50) | India 5/178 (36.2) | M.S Dhoni 36* (38) | Ravindra Jadeja 0* (0)
India require 151 runs from 82 balls.

THAT’S ONE OF THE MOST BIZARRE DISMISSALS WE’VE SEEN IN THIS TOURNAMENT… THERE WAS NO APPEAL WHATSOEVER FROM THE AUSTRALIANS, BUT THEN GLENN MAXWELL AND STEVE SMITH RAN IN FROM THEIR RESPECTIVE POINTS, AND SAID “REVIEW IT!”… THEY DID, THERE WAS AN EDGE, AND AS A RESULT, RAHANE IS ON HIS WAY, AND THAT COULD BE THE FINAL NAIL IN THE INDIAN COFFIN!

Rahane | c Haddin, b Starc | 44 (68) | FOW 5/178 (36.2)

That could well be the best review we’ve seen in the tournament.
5/178 as Mark Taylor, Brett Lee and Harsha Bhogle take over commentary!

9:51pm | Australia 7/328 (50) | India 6/208 (41.5) | M.S Dhoni 47* (53) | Ravichandran Ashwin 0* (0)
India require 121 runs from 49 balls.
OUT!!! THAT’S BRILLIANT… HE’S GOT HIM… UNBELIEVABLE FROM STEVEN SMITH! THE RUN OUT THAT SURELY ENSURES THAT AUSTRALIA WILL PLAY NEW ZEALAND ON SUNDAY!

Jadeja | run out | 16 (17) | FOW 6/208 (41.5)

Ashwin joins Dhoni, as Rahul Dravid, Nasser Hussain and Damien Fleming take up Commentary!

10:05pm | Australia 7/328 (50) | India 7/231 (44.3) | Mohammed Shami 0* (0) | Ravichandran Ashwin 4* (6)
India require 98 runs from 33 balls.

GOT HIM… DIRECT HIM… HE’S WELL GONE!!! DHONI IS OUT. THAT’S GAME OVER… HE WAS THEIR LAST HOPE!

Dhoni | run out | 65 (65) | FOW 7/231 (44.3)

65 at a run a ball, but it wasn’t good enough for India, unfortunately… 7/231!

Shami joins Ashwin, as we rejoin Rahul Dravid, Nasser Hussain and Damien Fleming!

10:12pm | Australia 7/328 (50) | India 8/232 (45.4)
India require 97 runs from 26 balls.

BOWLED HIM… FAULKNER HAS DONE THE DAMAGE AGAIN… STRAIGHT ONTO THE STUMPS!

Ashwin | b Faulkner | 5 (13) | FOW 8/232 (45.4)

10:14pm | Australia 7/328 (50) | India 9/232 (45.5) | India require 97 runs from 25 balls.

BOWLED HIM!!! SECOND WICKET IN AS MANY BALL… EXACTLY THE SAME DISMISSAL… FAULKNER ON A HAT-TRICK, AND AUSTRALIA ARE ONE WICKET AWAY FROM THEIR SEVENTH WORLD CUP FINAL APPEARANCE! 9/232!

Mohit Sharma | b Faulkner | 0 (1) | FOR 9/232 (45.5)

10:17pm | Australia 7/328 (50) | India 10/232 (46.5)
Australia wins by 96 runs!
BOWLED HIM… IT’S OVER!!! AUSTRALIA ARE THROUGH TO THE WORLD CUP FINAL, WITH A COMPREHENSIVE WIN OVER THE 2011 WINNERS HERE AT THE SYDNEY CRICKET GROUND!

Yadav | b Starc | 0 (5) | FOW 10/233 (46.5)

It’ll be Australia against New Zealand on Sunday… we’ll wrap up everything from the semi-finals in just a few moments!

Hello again from the Sydney Cricket Ground, where we can confirm that it will be a TRANS-TASMAN FINAL in the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup, as both hosts have qualified… New Zealand went through on Tuesday, with that epic win over South Africa at Eden Park… one of the best semi-finals we’ve ever seen, and then, just moments ago, Australia ended India’s tournament… winning a lot more comfortably than New Zealand, defeating the 2011 champions by 96 runs.

Fabulous all-round performance from the Australians, and the man that set it up with a century, called for a review on Ajinkya Rahane, which was out, then ran out MS Dhoni, Steven Smith has been given the Man of the Match award tonight… and rightly so… this young, talented cricketer has had a dream summer, and he may get to cap it off with World Cup supremacy on Sunday!

India started their chase well, but the wheels fell off it when Shikhar Dhawan was dismissed… from there, they never recovered!

Dhoni tried his best, but he fell short of the target in a massive chase here at the SCG.

I said at the top that India’s highest chase so far was 288… so anything past that would be difficult, and that proved to be the case tonight.

All that being said, it was a fabulous tournament from India… undefeated until today… playing some of the best cricket they’ve ever played in Australia along the way, but they remain winless against Australia this summer… they’re the bogey team in many respects.

So, then there were two… After 48 matches that have taken us all around this great nation and our neighbour New Zealand, it is the two hosts who’ll take to the MCG on Sunday, in front of over 90,000 people, to do battle for the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup.

The Aussies are into their seventh final… they’ve won 4 (1987, 1999, 2003 and 2007), and lost 2 (1975 and 1996).

New Zealand have had seven cracks at the semi-finals, but this will be their first final appearance… will the pressure, the nerves, or the Australian conditions get the better of them?
Only time will tell.

2015 ICC Cricket World Cup | THE FINAL
Australia v New Zealand
LIVE from the Melbourne Cricket Ground
12:30pm AEDST on Fox Sports 3
2pm AEDST on NINE
Play starts at 2:30pm AEDST!

On Sunday, we will be with you LIVE from 12:30pm… we’ve got a massive build-up to the FINAL, with a look at the road to the last Sunday in March, and a look at Australia’s previous World Cup Finals… then, the usual pre-game duties: the toss, a look at the teams, and the anthems, before we will get underway, and then… what will be will be… either Australia will win for the fifth time, or New Zealand will create history, and join the West Indies, India, Sri Lanka and Australia, as winners of the ICC Cricket World Cup.

42,330 people here tonight, treated to a great game of cricket… and the Australians put in a brilliant performance to ensure their spot in the final… they play New Zealand on Sunday, and we are set for something special… there is no doubt about that, and we can’t wait to get to the MCG!

Two cracking semi-finals this week… if you haven’t enjoyed them, you are very difficult to please… we’ve got the final LIVE for you, when we’re with you from Melbourne on Sunday, but for now, on behalf of the entire Zak Sports Media team, from here at the Sydney Cricket Ground… we wish you goodnight!
