With recent confirmation that this website will now be working with NSW Formula Ford, our full schedule has been confirmed for 2016.
As we have done since 2014, we’ll once again be working with Targa Racing, and the Modern Sports Cars series. The Modern Sports Cars calendar is yet to be confirmed, but Targa Racing competitors will be seen in various different events across the 2016 season, including the Australian Endurance Championship.
We’ll continue our partnership with the NSW Production Touring Car Championship, that started late last season. It’s a big year for the category, as they feature prominently in the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour, and finish the season with an interstate round, at Winton Motor Raceway in Victoria.
Zak Sports will return to the Karting scene in 2016, under an agreement with the Newcastle Kart Racing Club, that sees us providing commentary and race reports for the 2016 CRG Club Championship. Previously, Zak Sports had commentated on major meetings at the Cameron Park venue between 2007 and 2012.
Elsewhere, we are delighted to be associated directly with Motor Racing Australia for Season 2016. The MRA series, managed by Terry Denovan, will take to the Wakefield Park in Goulburn four times in 2016. Round 1 will be held on Saturday, January 30, with the finale to be contested on August 14, and Zak Sports will be providing trackside commentary as well as race day reports in 2016.
Zak Sports has also recently been appointed to assist with Media and Commentary for the NSW Formula Ford Championship. The series is set for a massive 2016, as a restructured National Series to join the NSW contingent at two of their 6 events this season.
In late October, we’ll also be trackside in the Cessnock CBD, for the third annual Australian Postie Bike Grand Prix.
A full day of racing, that culminates with a 2-hour race to crown the overall Postie Bike Grand Prix winner.
It’s an event that’s fast becoming the biggest single sporting event for the town of Cessnock, as the towns residents line the streets to watch an event that showcases some of the regions finest talent, and attracts some big names too, like Kevin Curtain, Troy Bayliss and rising talent, Matt Walters, as they push their Postie Bike to the absolute limit.
Zak Sports will also continue its partnership with 2MCE Sport in 2016 – working with the community broadcaster on the three big endurance races at Mount Panorama. First up, the Liqui-Moly Bathurst 12 Hour from February 5-7, before the return of an Easter Production Car Endurance Classic to the 6.213km circuit. We’re trackside for the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour from March 25-27, and then, of course, it’s the BIG ONE… the 2016 SuperCheap Auto Bathurst 1000 from October 6-9, with comprehensive coverage of all the action exclusive to Zak Sports, with a preview and review of the 1000 to also air on 2MCE Sport.
To finish things off, Zak Sports will file reports for selected events of the V8 Supercar Championship (Clipsal 500, Townsville 400, Sydney 500 and the Pirtek Enduro Cup) for National Radio News, which broadcasts through the Community Radio Network of Australia.
It’s a massive year of Motorsport here on Zak Sports. We hope you’ll enjoy it as much as we’ll enjoy bringing it to you. See the full schedule below.
