The New South Wales Production Touring Car Championship is set to receive more coverage than ever before in 2016, with the announcement of a broadcast agreement with Zak Sports Media, and Bathurst’s Community Radio Station, 2MCE.
The new deal will see 10 of the remaining 13 championship races broadcast in full, on delay on 2MCE Sport, in the week following each event.
The deal is a first for a NSW State Motor Racing Championship category – and it comes for a category that’s not only established itself as the best in the state, but it’s also the benchmark Production Car Series category in Australia.
The Bathurst broadcaster is no stranger to Motorsport coverage and programming – covering the Bathurst 12 Hour and Bathurst 1000 annually. They were also present for the recent Bathurst 6 Hour, and formerly produced a weekly Motorsport program, Motorsport Central.
With the series swapping between sprint and endurance race formats for the remainder of the season, 2MCE’s coverage will extend accordingly.
2MCE’s coverage from Rounds 2, 4 and 5 – the sprint race portion of the season – will run for one hour, featuring full replays of Races 2 and 3.
MoComm Cup races from Sydney Motorsport Park (September 18) and Wakefield Park (July 3) will air in full, with 2MCE’s coverage expanding to 90 minutes for those events.
Expanding on that, this website, Zak Sports Media will expand on 2MCE’s coverage, as we’ll cover Qualifying and all races, as well as extra interviews from every round of the Championship, as we did for the first round of the series at Wakefield Park in February.
The website will also be home to preview content and race reports from each round of the series.
Race coverage will be directly from the circuit trackside commentary.
For Rounds 3 and 5 at Wakefield Park, Caban will call the action alongside the Goulburn circuit’s trackside announcer, Lachlan Mansell.
Mansell will again join Caban in the booth for the finale at Winton Motor Raceway in Victoria.
For Rounds 2, 4 and 6 at Sydney Motorsport Park, their trackside broadcast host David Conole will join Caban in commentary.
Zak Sports NSWPTC coverage is made available online through podcast website, Podomatic, with all podcasts free to download in MP3 format.
The team at More Driven Media will continue to produce and present highlights from all races at every round of the series. Cary Morsink and Matthew Spasaro will film and produce the packages, with Zak Caban to again provide commentary.
The best NSWPTC action will again be captured in still images, by the team at On the Redline.
Social media will again play its part in NSWPTC coverage. Regular updates will appear on the NSW Production Touring Cars and Zak Motorsport pages across race weekends, ensuring those who can’t be trackside are kept up-to-date with all that’s happening in this ever expanding championship.
2MCE Station Manager, Ross Larsen was unavailable for comment.
The deal sees Motorsport back on 2MCE’s program schedule on a regular basis for the first time since 2012 – adding to the variety and diversity of shows and programming the station airs every day of the year.
2MCE airs on 92.3FM in Bathurst, 94.7FM in Orange, while all programs are streamed as they air on the station’s website, 2mce.org.
The next round of the V8 Superlaps NSW Production Touring Car Championship is at Sydney Motorsport Park at the end of the month.
