Holihan, who is set to take to the track in four different championships in 2016, is set to miss September meetings for personal reasons.
The Sydney racer will miss the Spring HSRCA meeting at Wakefield Park, and the National Formula Ford round at Winton, as he’ll be off to the United Kingdom, to watch one of his sister’s walk down the aisle.
While Holihan is disappointed to be missing time in the seat at the back end of the season, he’s insisted that family comes first.
Despite the setback, Holihan remains confident that consistent performances in the remaining events of the season, at both Historic and National level, will leave him in good stead to try and secure a podium finish at seasons end.
When speaking to Zak Sports, Holihan said: “I’d love to do every National, State & Historic round in 2016, but family comes first for me, and my sister is getting married overseas (in September).”
“I’m already missing my youngest sisters engagement party due to the opening New South Wales round (this weekend), and I don’t plan on missing another family commitment.”
Holihan’s sponsors have supported his decision to miss those two events, and he’s very grateful for that.
“My sponsors accepted my decision to miss a couple of rounds because I’m a loyal bloke and I told them I’m it with them for the long haul even when I move out of Formula Ford in the future.”
Holihan is still committed to the full schedule in both the New South Wales and Victorian Formula Ford Championships, and he’s back on-track this weekend, as the New South Wales season gets underway at Wakefield Park in Goulburn, and suffice to say, he’s excited.
“I can’t wait for this weekend!”
Unofficial Practice commences on Friday, with Qualifying on Saturday morning, and racing across the rest of the weekend.
