2MCE Sport to Launch 2017 Season with MASSIVE Double-Header.

1S0A2547EXCLUSIVE: After providing comprehensive coverage of the championship in 2016, Bathurst’s ‘Live and Local’ broadcaster, 2MCE, will once again be home of the Production Touring franchise in 2017.

2MCE Sport presented over 16 hours of coverage from the 2016 series, and that number is set to increase this season, with more events and more racing than we’ve ever seen before.

2MCE will launch their 2017 season coverage across two nights, and two different states.

17362551_10209188313046419_8585891265908019706_n2017 will see the launch of the BRAND NEW Bilstein Suspension Queensland Production Touring Car Championship, and 2MCE Sport will be trackside, at the iconic Lakeside Park, for the historic inaugural event, which takes place on April 1 and 2.

The Queensland Championship will consist of three rounds, all of which will feature a one-hour endurance race, including a special Saturday Night affair in the season finale at Queensland Raceway in October.

17203011_10154436998873947_6816268597049745259_nRound 2 of the Queensland series will double as Round 3 of the NSW Championship, as competitors travel to the Sunshine State for the opening leg of the 2017 MoComm Cup, at Lakeside Park, on the opening weekend of June.

Former NSW Series President, Gerry Murphy, has been a driving force in establishing the Queensland Series, and he’ll take to the track in his BMW, as will noted former Improved Production, and current Queensland Touring Car Championship racer, Karl Begg.

2MCE’s Motorsport anchor, Zak Caban, will be on the ground at Lakeside, alongside Queensland Raceways commentator, Mark Jones, to bring you all the action.

13579987_10154347374599511_1588751687_oOn the very same weekend, the 2017 Shockwave Signs New South Wales Production Touring Car Championship will burst into life, at Goulburn’s Wakefield Park Raceway.

The event will be the first of three sprint rounds in the 2017 championship – the only one at Wakefield Park – and the first of two in April alone, with Sydney Motorsport Park welcoming the series on April 29 and 30, when they’ll race on the 4.5km Brabham Circuit.

Matthew Holt enters as the defending series champion, after claiming the 2016 title, in the deciding race of the season at Sydney Motorsport Park, ending the dominance of Chris Reeves in the process.

13575567_10154347377984511_397111620_oJimmy Vernon will enter the season as a title favourite, after winning the 2016 MoComm Cup, and claiming Class D honours in every one of the four rounds he contested across the State Championship season.

The NSW series has established itself as the most popular Production Car series in the country, with in-excess of thirty cars entering all five State Championship rounds in 2016.

For 2017, there are a few changes, with new cars, new liveries, new sponsors, new circuits, and most notably, some new drivers as well. All of that adds a lot of excitement, spice and intrigue into what is already shaping up to be a captivating and compelling season of racing, with a certain interest in how the new cars and drivers perform throughout.

943824_681761705296351_5456680701224777687_nFor many drivers, on both sides of the Tweed, this will be their last hit-out before they make the pilgrimage to Mount Panorama, for the second running of the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour, which will be held over the Easter weekend.

With Zak Caban  on assignment in Queensland, WIN News Sports Reporter, Brian Van De Wakker will be on deck to call the first three races of the season.

2MCE’s commentary team will also include respected Journalist and Car Reviewer, David Conole, who will join the team for the three rounds at Sydney Motorsport Park (April 29-30, July 1-2 and September 16-17), and Chequered Flag Media’s Lachlan Mansell, who will be in commentary for Round 5 of the Championship, at Wakefield Park, in August.

2MCE can be heard through 92.3FM in Bathurst, 94.7FM in Orange, and everywhere else, via 2mce.org, which streams all station programming LIVE.

2MCE’s FULL broadcast schedule will be confirmed at a later date.
