Focus Returns to Endurance Racing for 2016

IMGP0575After a season dominated by sprint racing, the Modern Sports Cars series will return to its roots in 2016, with confirmation of a two event, four race calendar for this season.

Series management, today confirmed that the series would race at Wakefield Park twice in 2016, as part of the AASA NSW Championship at Goulburn venue.

The opening round will be held on the Mother’s Day weekend in May, with the final event to be held on July 16 and 17.

IMGP6202Interest in the series is at an all-time high, as is the competition, with the last round of the 2015 series crowning, not only a new champion, but also two new race winners, in what was the only endurance racing weekend of the 2015 season.

Each round will consist of two one-hour races, and the events are perfectly positioned between rounds of the Australian Endurance Championship, which will be held in February and November.

It’s a friendly calendar for those who enjoy their endurance racing, with the dates aligning so as to allow a nice spread of opportunities throughout 2016, to go racing in the longer events.

The series will be well represented on the grid in next month’s Valvoline Wakefield 300, which will be held on February 21, before focus will turn to the Bathurst 6 Hour in March for some, while the rest on the paddock will have its eyes on Round 1 of the Modern Sports Cars Championship in May.
Full Sporting and Technical Regulations for the 2016 Season will be available on the Modern Sports Cars Website in due course.
