2015 ANZAC Test | Australia v New Zealand | From Suncorp Stadium

2015 ANZAC Test | Australia v New Zealand | From Suncorp Stadium

It’s been quite the month for weather related events on Australia’s East Coast, and unfortunately for Rugby League fans, the rain has made its way north from New South Wales, and smashed Brisbane today, just hours before Suncorp Stadium hosts the ANZAC Test of 2015, between Australia and New Zealand.

As we welcome you to Suncorp… it’s a massive weekend of representative Rugby League, but it hasn’t started in the way we would’ve wanted… the match between the Australian Jillaroos and the Silver Ferns of New Zealand has been called off in the interest of player safety… and despite reports that the main match will go ahead, there is considerable doubt about that, because at this point in time, Suncorp Stadium is a quagmire… covered in puddles… the likes of which we haven’t seen at this ground for a very long time.

New Zealand have won the last two encounters over Australia. BOTH of those wins came in the Four Nations tournament in 2014. They haven’t won three in a row since 1952-53, so they’ll be very keen to get out on the field, with extra incentive tonight, in a bid to re-write the records.

Here’s the two teams, and a few other pieces of info for you, as we countdown to kick-off, which is supposed to be 8pm, but with the weather the way it is, who knows.

More from Suncorp Stadium shortly… we understand that Channel Nine is currently meeting with the NRL, to discuss if the game will take place this evening… truth be told, I don’t think there’s too much chance, but we’ll keep you updated as we get news.

In the meantime, follow score updates from the New Era Cup Match between CSU Mungoes Yellow, and Bathurst Villages on our Facebook and Twitter pages. Play will commence there at 6:30pm.

For the moment, from Suncorp Stadium, it’s goodbye!

7pm | Hello again from Suncorp Stadium, where the news is not good I’m afraid… the Test Match has been postponed due to the atrocious weather here in Brisbane.

The bad news is that this is the first time a Test Match has been postponed on Australia soil as a result of weather… and the last Test involving Australia to be postponed (due to weather) was way back in 1948… its was against England… it was the 3rd Test of the Ashes, and the reason was FOG!

But, the good news, as a result of this, is that the game will be played on Sunday at 4pm… the match between City and Country in Wagga has been moved to 1:45pm as a result… what isn’t yet known, is whether Nine’s broadcast of the NSW Cup representative team, and the QLD Residents side will be shown on GEM, or scrapped from the schedule all together, but as soon as we know, we’ll update you.

So, Sunday… massive day of Rugby League. City/Country from 1:45pm, the Test at 4pm. Hope you’ll join us then.
